We've definitely had a problem with my pal's Thermal Arc 161 sending
enough hash back up the line to make GFCIs (oddly ones on *other*
circuits, sometimes even circuits on the other leg, but never the one
that it's plugged into) unhappy. Only happens when it's plugged into
120 oddly enough - when plugged into 240 it's smooth sailing.
I'm hoping that when I get my IdealArc 250 (big 'ol linear arc welder
with a transformer that weighs more than I do in it) back from my
friend, it'll exhibit sane behavior and not blow anything up. :)
