Skew-Planar Wheel Antenna

I'm surprised the authors were not able to find information on the design.
I've seen something that looks an awful lot like it in aviation antenna farms 
in this "loop" form but there's also a form where the "skew" element is center-fed.
the elements are L-shaped so they form a center-fed diagonal "dipole" with the 
other legs of the two Ls forming a parallel feedline segment. 

It would be interesting to see how the two designs compare.
