Field Day

Sorry to hear that propagation was poor on the East Coast. Here in Michigan, the bands were pretty good, actually, at least 20m and 40m. The problem here was that it rained all day, and the winds were incredibly high. The tent we put up for the GOTA tent was completely demolished, and it was even a bit scary in the campers that a couple of guys dragged out.

I use a half wave whip for 6 and if I find the mount it is a bolt on mount with matching network built on. Sometimes I also have a 3/8 " mount for playing around, but with all the rain expected Saturday it might not be any fun tuning 20 & 15 meter whips. I'll use a mag mount dual band antenna for 2 and .70 meters, you don't get many contacts, but since I use an Icom 706 it isn't much trouble and I think it important to at least try.
