I+Q tutorial (clever!)

HI, I'm looking to have a discussion somewhere on do's / don'ts of a
homebrew construction of a phase modulation experiment. Any tips? Probably I
will choose to implement a BPSK modulator just for a first challenge. What's
going to be the method of determining if it is working well or not?
