Thanks for the info George. I found some HV diodes on Amazon for tesla coils. They appear to operate fine so far, I am running tests right now. You are correct, I was worried about the faster switching rates for CRT use vs microwave diodes.

Terry, hopefully you’ve probably solved your CRT hv diode problem, but here’s a vendor with (cheap) fast switching HV diodes:

At 15kHz pulse rate from a flyback, diodes made for 60hz, like transformer type microwave oven diodes, are generally too slow a recovery time, and overheat above several kHz.
