AMRAD community did you attend EMCOMM event at APL on saturday?

I demoed the type 2358B NEDA antenna worked by Michael  KA2ZEV, Tom KC3ELI
and myself for the for time on the air today. Its designed for 80/40/20/10m
ops.  This has been a multi year effort after Frank K0BRA passed.

Audio mix chain integrated under my supervision  by recent EE grad  Nkosi
Cruickshank.

The mast used , proved  inadequate when extended so we reduced height for
stability,  but on concrete the tripod failed its purpose miserably as the
wind blew the top heavy antenna everywhere. and I had no aecire way to
anchor it with guy wires as it was a large  car  park.

I had no opportunity to scout the location earlier and no knowledge of the
challenges.

So I used my team volunteer Cruickshank's car to anchor the tripod by
wedging it gently between two my Prius and his vehicle. Thanks Nkosi.

Local power was produced by combining 12V DC cigarette lighter (for utility
use 12VDC/120VAC) and also standalone 12V DC lead acid battery for transmit


We demoed an audio bridge TX/RX for three radio transceivers as well with
station PA for multi-network monitoring and net control .  I suggested to
visitors that  be part of  all comm teams doing EMCOMM

Much interest was received for short for multiband HF antennas.
