Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for 2026!

I am not sure how much KW equipment has made it across the Atlantic, but
there is a very active KW owners club in the UK, and a fairly large overlap
with the Vintage and Military Amateur Radio Society.

My local Cray Valley Radio Society in South East London, puts on a display
every year, on the anniversary of the founding of KW Electronics on 6th
January, 1956.

So this weekend marks the 70th anniversary. We have collected a large
amount of KW equipment and it is on display *and in use* this weekend at
our clubhouse. Callsign GB8KW is assigned.

Here is a walk-through of the array of virtually every item sold by KW
including Vanguard, Viceroy, KW-2000 and many more. The first radio seen in
the video was actually Rowley's personal KW-2000B:

Rowley Shears, the KW founder also had a colourful career in the British
Military, Royal Signals, and some of his escapades are documented in a book
written by his son, Richard Shears.

Richard was present today at the anniversary and was signing copies of the
book, "Conversations over the Airwaves".

I understand that the book is available from Barnes & Noble as an E-book.
May only be available in print via Amazon UK. (

)

As a teaser for the book, I will say that Rowley was awarded an Iron Cross
!

If you want to try to work GB8KW, they will be on the air 1000UTC-1600UTC,
Sunday 4th January. 80m, 40m, and 20/15/10.
