Nova (PBS) did an excellent show on this back in May sometime. I would 
get a copy of it on tape. I DVR'ed it but did not tape it. The crux of 
the problem is this may be normal for the Earth's core to "slow" down 
from time to time. They took core samples from some mountain side and 
can see a pattern for this "reversing" from some time.
