the latest issue of CQ has an article by W5YI on "time" and
"timekeeping". it's not what i'd call the latest info on this
interesting topic. if you would like to hear about the latest info on
serious timekeeping (also known as "true-chiming"), there's a ham
(SM4KEL/W4KEL - Peter) who's in NoVA part-time and owns 3 hydrogen
masers and a stack of cesium clocks. he is officially a member of
"Circle-T", the group that contributes to the maintenance of UTC. I
had lunch with him just the other day and he was lamenting the fact
that he can't talk about it to hams because they just point to WWV and
GPS and say "why would we care more than this?" i told him i knew
some hams who would likely be interested. so if so, i'll try to talk
him into giving a talk.
