Answers interlaced in your questions..

what are the specifics?
(offset and direction, PL)

(Dead standard.
-1.00 mhz, pl 67 hz but it's not working right now.)

i can hear it kerchunking like mad
from what sounds like junk on the input

(Yeah that's a question mark. Is it some stuff coming in on skywave or some distant user who is far enough away? Don't know. 6m is prone to a lot of 'junk'. Might be some far flung harmonic of a switching power supply on the grounds or in a neighbors home. Hard to say.

Guess I need to fix the PL.)

but i can't key it up. maybe not enough

(Depends on where you are. The unit is in Ashburn VA west of the AOL HQ.

I have a side thing where I take old school bus radios and set them up for 6m.
If you want I can scare up one with a bad computer in it but a working HPA.

Want a make a 6m brick that will give you 110 watts output from your ht?
Let me know.
