250kw generator

i've got 70KVA for my house!
(I didn't wanna play "Green Acres" load management
so just got one big enough to not care.)

what's surprising is now modest a Megawatt really is.
it's only about 1200 horsepower of prime mover.

the biggest diesel engines in the world are the mammoth
Wartsilla diesels, the biggest clocks in at about 110,000 horsepower.
which is just about 100 Megawatts, or the common "unit increment"
power output of gas-turbine peaking stations on the power grid.
