I grew up in Shelby, NC. The fairgrounds there are in better shape than Trotwood, and it doesn't feel like a post-industrial wasteland (it's a post-textile wasteland).  As I recall, they commandeer the local community college for parking, so no busses to even worse slums.

Perhaps I should time a visit to my parents for that weekend next year.
