Sorry, I didn't bother to read the Wiki post as this is a very well  
known problem, and I doubt I am missing anything.

The answer is simple, use WiMax. so the wireless router controls the  
various "nodes" in the filed.  The hidden transmitter problem is no  
longer a problem when each transmitter must be polled before they  
transmit.

On the other hand, it is a shared band, so you have a LOT of other  
users in the band.
