Don't kid yourself, tho... Jägermeister is sold in Germany as well.   
It was very well advertised with posters, neon, stag props, etc  
throughout the bars and clubs I visited in Heidelberg.

I guess it is an acquired taste.  First time I tried it many years  
ago, I thought of Vicks 44 cough syrup.
