It is actually remarkable that Air America didn't go under years ago.

Air America's parent company was started and chaired by a director of a 
certain non-profit boys and girls club, which collected money from the 
government of New York City and made a remarkable $875,000 loan to the 
parent company for reasons unknown, some or all of which was almost 
certainly used to fund Air America in its early days.  This became 
known, and New York City stopped funding the boys and girls club after 
that, the chairman and director stepped down, and Air America proceeded 
to pay back that loan in 2006.  Remarkably, that chairman and director 
was evidently once the chief of staff for a former Republican Senator in 
the US territory of Guam (not a US Senator).

And the beat goes on... you can't make this stuff up!
