Yep, if you can find the 40673, they're about $7. Dan's Small Parts and
kits (where I buy most parts) indicates the 40822 (for $5.00) is a
suitable replacement. The 3N211's are $6.50.
The surface mount replacement is the BF998 and is allegedly better than
the 40673. They are 5/$4.00...a pretty good deal. Some wag is selling
little surface mount boards that allow the BF998 to be used in "old
style" construction.
