By what standard? If you compare both to contemporary competing
technologies (say, a Model T : horse and buggy vs. Taurus : Toyota
Avalon), I'm not sure that "much better" applies anymore. Sure, the
Taurus gets better fuel mileage and has details like air bags, safety
glass, seat belts, and a pretty darned nice factory sound system (talk
about things that have come a long way in the past 20 years!), but in
context rather than in absolutes I'm not sure.
