Louis,
I agree. Most folks don't realize the fees and tariffs that the LEC's
pocket and call profit.
Also, my neighbor across the street, a retired school teacher was having
problems with her cable/telephone that she asked me to look at. Verizon
when they upgraded my neighborhood nine years ago to FIOS, one of the first
in this locale of Northern Virginia, had "upgraded" her from copper to
fiber optic. Unbekownst to her they had "bundled" her for cable t.v. even
though she was receiving her cable service from Cox cable.
It was quite the 'adventure' as I was routed from call center to call
center dealing with Custom Service, Billing, Engineering, and requesting to
escalate the ticket as each person in their department wasn't allowed to
deviate from their prescribed "script". We finally sorted it out, with a
substantial refund coming back to my neighbor, but took no less than seven
hours of being put on hold and listening to "*please stay on line, we
really appreciate you" *or something to that effect.
Switching from copper to fiber, the LEC's are also not compelled to share
access to customers with the CLEC's.
Ma' Bell is back, and boy is she angry!!!
