AMRAD meeting this Saturday

The monthly meeting of AMRAD will be held this Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:30 PM.


 Francis Gary Powers, Jr. will be presenting: Spy Pilot, Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 Incident, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy.


The Francis Gary Powers incident, for those too young to remember (or old enough to have \

forgotten), involved a CIA spy plane (the U-2) that flew over the then-Soviet Union with

cameras rolling, Its role was to gather information on what was happening behind the closed

borders. It was shot down. Its pilot, Powers, survived, and was eventually exchanged for a

couple of Russian spies.  The incident formed the basis for a Hollywood movie called

"The Bridge of Spies". Not a bad movie, by the way.


The AMRAD meeting will be held at 2;30 PM, following AMRAD's usual luncheon

get-together at Tippie's Taco House at noon, or whenever you can get there. The

locations of the meeting (at Linaspace, a satellite fab belonging to Mark Kanawati,

one of our members) and Tippies are both given on the AMRAD web site,

You don't have to be an AMRAD member to come to a meeting, or to come to the

luncheon. So come one, come all, and say hello.
