Anyone in AMRAD ACTIVELY messing with HSMM, possibly using Ubiquiti?

Mel and I are still looking to work on HSMM stuff here in Charleston. We
each have about half a dozen WRT-54 APs set up with mesh firmware. We want
to connect to each other, and doubt the WRT-54's have enough power to do it.

We've been tinking about getting a couple of the Ubiquiti Bullets to try
out. Has anyone messed with them?

Our path is almost exactly one mile, mostly across the Ashley river. Mel
lives right on the river, but I'm about two rows of houses back from the
river. I may have the edge of one house in the way, but there are several
trees. We plan to use modified DBS dish antennas (probably) at each end.
I'm in a stupid HOA community, but Mel is not, so re-using DBS dishes helps
me out.

>From my long experience doing 2GHz broadcast RPU (with the old analog gear),
I know this will be a marginal situation, and am hoping to find any edge
that I can. The Ubiquiti Bullet may help some, but I also see very mixed
reviews on them. They are only $80 each at Amazon, plus another $13 or so
for the POE power supply.
