Copper Phone Lines Vs Fiber Optic, Which Is Better?

A fair point if you live in a place that has repeated
long-duration-non-catastrophic power outages. The only time we've had
power out here for long enough that the FiOS battery croaked, power
was out for six days and the POTS phone cable was lying on the ground
along with the FiOS fiber and the power lines (2012 derecho).

By the way, I have "double play" FiOS; no phone service on the ONT.
Kind of no point in yet another phone line when there are multiple
cell phones in the household as well as HTs both in the house and in
the car.

Other ways to solve it could be - have a spare battery (and keep it charged somehow), have an emergency generator with plenty of fuel, or use some other means to communicate.
